Trade Fair Guest for 30 Years: So Many Great Reunions

By Marlene Grøftehauge, Fiskeritidende

Henrik Amdisen has attended DanFish International 14 times. He spends the exhibition reconnecting with old colleagues, partners, and suppliers.

How are things going? What’s the current state of the industry?

These are some of the questions Henrik Amdisen discusses with the people he meets at DanFish International. This year marks his 14th visit — which also means he’s been attending for all 30 years he’s worked as a technical consultant for the Hanstholm Fishermen’s Association.

“I always look forward to the exhibition. Everyone relevant to my work is here. Some of them I don’t see at all during the two years between exhibitions, so it’s especially nice to reconnect,” he says.

Henrik Amdisen has previously worked in both Greenland and New Zealand, and he even meets old friends from those days at DanFish. That sparks a wave of memories from a life spent in the fishing industry.

But his most memorable moment at the fair came years ago, when the association’s chairman, Svend-Erik Andersen, signed a purchase agreement for a new vessel — right there at the exhibition. Amdisen was present for the occasion, and it left a lasting impression.

“That was a big day,” he recalls with a smile.
