Experience the Arctic in Aalborg: Greenland Gets a Dedicated Area at DanFish International

When the global fishing industry gathers for DanFish International 2025 at Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Center (AKKC), exhibitors and visitors can look forward to an extraordinary experience: an exclusive Greenlandic pavilion that combines history, culture, culinary experiences, sustainability, and technology – providing an authentic insight into life and fishing in Greenland.

For generations, fishing and hunting have been at the heart of Greenlandic communities, and over time the country has developed a deep understanding of nature, technology, and sustainability. Fishing has not only provided a livelihood but has also shaped the culture and living conditions of these communities. Today, Greenland stands as a leader in modern fishing and innovation, and it is precisely this unique combination of experience and know-how that visitors can experience in Hall F/Foundation at DanFish International 2025.

– Greenland combines tradition with innovation in an impressive way. We are excited to showcase how Greenlandic culture and innovation merge in a single area. Our goal is for visitors to gain an authentic impression of the country – through its history, technology, and atmosphere, says Lasse Holsteen Jessen, Expo Sales Manager at AKKC.

Step into Greenland
In this area, visitors can feel the power of the sea from the deck of a fishing vessel and take a virtual sled dog ride through Greenland via virtual reality. Interactive QR codes provide insights into Greenland’s sustainable fishing, technology, and culture, while the exhibition tells the story of fishing and hunting traditions over the past 100 years. At the same time, authentic Greenlandic delicacies bring the raw Arctic nature directly to Aalborg – and visitors can take a little piece of Greenland home through souvenirs.

Eight Greenlandic exhibitors are ready to share their knowledge and experiences of Greenlandic fishing. Among them are the Department of Fisheries and Hunting, KONFIFA – the consultancy service for fishers and hunters, KNAPK – the Fishermen and Hunters Association of Greenland, the Telecommunications Authority, Tusass, Qalut Vonin, Royal Arctic, and Avannaata Municipality.

From the Polar Sea to DanFish
For AKKC, it is important that visitors to DanFish get an authentic and credible experience of Greenland. Fortunately, through many years of collaboration and experience in the country, AKKC has built a solid foundation for this task. Every other year, they organize Greenland’s largest fishing and hunting fair, PolarExpo, in the town of Ilulissat. Recently, they announced that, in collaboration with Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, they will host the brand-new fair ArcticExpo – Fishing & Hunting in Nuuk, which will take place for the first time in April 2026 and then every other year, alternating with PolarExpo.

With this experience, AKKC is excited to create an area at DanFish where visitors can fully immerse themselves in the experience.

DanFish International 2025 will take place from 7–9 October at Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Center.
